Honoring those who served
9-11-01, a day we will always remember where you were, who you were with and what you felt.
At Fumar Cigars, we felt the tragedy, the anger and the fear. Like most of you, we chose to not live in fear, but to do whatever we could to help those who serve take back our freedom. It all started with Cigars for Soldiers, over the years since we started this gifting program in 2003, our 501(c)(3), Friends of Freedom, was born to support all who served, sacrificed and died and their families.
Enriching others
In 2009, our non-profit division was elevated to a 501(c)(3). Our guiding principle would be written in our Mission: “Supporting those who served” by fostering programs that result in self-reliance, self-determination and dignity for all. and includes:
- Moral Programming – “Cigars for Soldiers”, battalion picnics, getaways for service members returning from deployment and assistance with reintegration after service.
- Compassionate Programming – emergency financial, air travel and hotel support) for families of military, veterans and first responders. We gift cars to deserving National Guard Reservists, motorized wheelchairs for veterans and recently wounded and more.
- Translating Military Service Into Civilian Success – helping those who served, veterans and their families plus first responders finding their way in the civilian workforce and working through any residual issues arising from service, loss and trauma.

Friends of Freedom
Friends of Freedom, a 501(c)(3) was stood up in 2003 by David and Judy Haddad to benefit those who serve. Starting with our cigars for soldiers programs, delivering over 1.4 million cigars to deployed service members through 2023. Over the last 10 years, we have expanded to do many different support programs. Impacting over 1000 military and first responders annually, our work has been active citizenship in action. We encourage our sponsors, supporters and friends to all contribute to these goals, donate dollars and time, to achieve the national purpose of “leave no one behind”.
